
Joan Houghton
Ms. Houghton has been involved with Clinical research for more than 20 years and welcomes the opportunity to pass on her knowledge and experience to a new generation, particularly to students in India who she knows are strongly motivated to make clinical research a fulfilling and successful career. She has more than 50 publications in major medical journals.
Dr. Sarah Morgan
Dr Morgan is the former course director for the MSc in Translational Medicine at Cranfield University and lecturers in molecular medicine. She is involved in projects evaluating novel detection methods for breast cancer. She is also responsible for ethics and research governance in Cranfield health.
Dr. Jeff Newman
Dr Newman is involved in research related to micro fluidics roadmaps (flow map). He has been involved in commercial applications of analytical biotechnology for 18 years. He has developed a chemical sensor for medical and industrial applications currently in use in the SANOMAT automated disinfections unit. He has written more than 9 international publications on biosensors.
Professor Phil Warner
Prof Warner has been a senior academic at Cranfield University for over 20 years and was the former Head of the Institute of Biosciences and Technology that provided postgraduate education at Masters and Doctoral Level. He has written more than 120 publications.
Dr. Lee Larcombe
Dr Larcombe has a degree in genetics from Queen Mary, University of London and is a member of Cranfield Health's bioinformatics group. His research is broadly in the area of structural biology, with a current focus on migration from proteomic and genomic data through to biologically useful antibodies. He is also Course Director for the School’s MSc in Applied Bioinformatics.
Dr. Carla Toro
Dr Toro is part of the Translational Medicine research group and has research interests in the pathophysiology of schizophrenia, mood disorder and dementia. Two themes that she is currently studying are (i) molecular mechanisms involved in NMDAR hypofunction in schizophrenia and (ii) developmental genes in neurogenic regions of the human hippocampus to assess neurodevelopmental and/or disease mechanisms of schizophrenia, mood disorder and dementia. Carla is currently Course Director for the MSc in Translational Medicine.
