Joan Houghton

Ms. Houghton has been involved with Clinical research for more than 20 years and welcomes the opportunity to pass on her knowledge and experience to a new generation, particularly to students in India who she knows are strongly motivated to make clinical research a fulfilling and successful career. She has more than 50 publications in major medical journals.


Linda Tigwell

She is a graduate in psychology and a very experienced practicing professional in the area of marketing, Market research and intellectual property. She has spent 20 years at Cranfield University in biotechnology sector with responsibilities in sales and marketing. She teaches on modules in Medical Diagnostics, Molecular medicine, Translational medicine and Clinical research along with presentation skills to all Cranfield Health’s MSc and PhD students. Co- authored publicly available market report such as “ Biotechnology Strategies in Healthcare.


Dr. Sarah Morgan
BSc in Biomedical Science at Liverpool John Moore University
MSc in Biomedical Basis of disease at Sheffield Hallam University
PhD at Cranfield University, UK

She is the course director for MSc in Translational medicine and MSc in public health Genomics and lecturer in molecular medicine. She is involved in projects evaluating novel detection methods for breast cancer. She is also responsible for ethics and research governance in Cranfield health.


Dr. Jeff Newman

Chief representative in Micro fluidics roadmaps (flow map) and Liquid handling Competence center (LICOM) Projects. He has been involved in commercial applications of analytical biotechnology for 18 years. He has developed a chemical sensor for medical and industrial applications currently in use in the SANOMAT automated disinfections unit. He has written more than 9 international publications on biosensors.


Professor Phil Warner

He has been an academician at Cranfield University for over 20 years. He has full financial responsibility for an institute (Institute of Biosciences and technology) that provided PG education at Masters and Doctoral Level. He has written more than 120 publications.


Dr.Lee Larcombe

He holds a degree in Genetics from Queen Mary University of London awarded to him in 1998.He currently lectures all MSc courses offered by Cranfield University, UK. His teaching and ongoing research can be described as “Genetics and Computational Biology.” His undergraduate research project studying the ancestry of the modern tobacco plant using chromosomal in situ hybridization developed an interest in the diagnostic applications of this technology.


David Ballantine

He has worked in a pharmaceutical industry in 1980’s. He has specialized in International market Research. He was responsible for the worldwide launch of a series of products that aimed to automate many of the manual procedures in the pathology laboratory. His main focus in Cranfield University is to develop and implement new modes of learning and training at national, Regional and Local levels.
