Like most of the undergraduate engineering courses, B.Tech Computer Science and B.Tech Computer Science and Engineering is a UGC recognized 4 years job oriented course. The curriculum offers both practical and theoretical knowledge to the students. There are several universities and institutes that offer the degree in B.Tech Computer Science and B.Tech Computer Science and Engineering. For most of the reputed institutes and other government-funded engineering colleges, the students are required to clear the JEE advance entrance examination or CUSATCAT, TANCET, SET, etc. However, there are some private B.Tech Computer Science Colleges that students can avail the course without appearing for the JEE examination. But for appearing on JEE examinations as well as to enrol in any institute even without the Joint Entrance Exam the student is required to have these following qualifications:

  • Passed 12th or Higher Secondary Examination
  • Must have had Physics, Mathematics, English as their subject
  • Must score a minimum of 50% in all these above-mentioned subjects in their 12th examination.

As mentioned earlier the duration of the course is 4 years and is divided into 8 semesters and a student is likely to spend between INR 2 lacs and INR 10 Lacs for the course.

Students who have passed out from a B.Tech Computer Science college with a Computer Science Engineering degree is likely to get a good job after graduating. Most universities and institutes facilitate on-campus job opportunities to the students of final year. Various companies both national and international conducts interview of the final year students and before they even graduate they are likely to get a job offer letter from a company. This is indicative that a student with a B.Tech degree in Computer Science is well on his/her way to be an employed person.
